Grove Design has been working within the Automotive industry for over 20 years, utilising iterative design and progressive analysis to contribute to high performance vehicles and automotive systems. We specialise in All Wheel Drive (AWD) systems, particularly the AWD version offered by the end vehicle manufacturer as a down-the-production line fitted option.

Client

Countytrac has a long history within specialist vehicle engineering since its formation in 1929. They have covered a range of automotive challenges, from rough terrain handling, to tractor and lorry conversions.  This has culminated in the design and supply of an AWD system with an intelligent algorithm that brings in the additional drive as required in an energy-efficient, more environmentally friendly, way. 

Grove Design has been working with Countytrac for over 20 years, developing the evolving generations of AWD systems.  Grove Design has analysis tools dedicated for use with transmission systems helping us get the best out of every gram of material we use in the vehicle. 

Product

With their client, Grove Design developed an integrated AWD system to be offered by a leading OEM. Our design solution required the power transfer unit, AWD coupling and front axle final drive to be integrated into a bespoke AWD transmission assembly. Several patents were granted during the process. The end result has little impact on the base vehicle architecture requiring only bespoke versions of the transmission assembly, front drive shafts and associated control equipment.
